Effective use of business cards.

Even setting up an Internet business is going to mean some offline communication between you and your customers. You may need to meet your customers face to face, or post out invoices to them. Even posting out products is a form of customer communication and you should take every opportunity to promote your business and to keep customers coming back for more. One of the most effective ways to do this is through the good use of business cards. Business cards don’t need to be complex and they don’t need to be expensive but they do need to be used properly.

These are some of the more effective ways to use business cards.

Always carry them.
You never know when you are going to meet somebody who might need your services or your product. Carry your business cards with you wherever you go. Even taking the family out for a meal, you might get talking to a local businessman at the bar giving you the perfect opportunity to distribute your business cards. You can almost guarantee that the one time you don’t take them with you will be the time you need them.

Written communication.
Your Internet business should always include a mailing address for people to use, and if someone does write to you then you should reply by mail unless requested to do otherwise. This is common business etiquette that you should adhere to wherever possible. When replying to correspondence or when sending out invoices or mailing your product then you should include at least one business card, although two is preferable.

Don’t be sparing.
If your business is new and you’ve just bought two hundred business cards from a website you found, then they will undoubtedly become your pride and joy. Don’t let this vanity stop you from handing them out; after all you can buy business cards in bulk for very little money. If possible you should try to give two to anyone who asks for them. This way you are building up a network through word of mouth.

These are some very simple steps to follow that will help you create useful contacts within the marketplace you are aiming for. By combining these tips with a good-looking business card that markets you or your business you will find that the humble business card is a very effective way of securing more business.

You should include a logo and a slogan. The logo doesn’t have to be too extravagant, in fact simple often works out best especially on small business cards. Your slogan should instantly let people know exactly why you are the company for the job and why you should be given the opportunity over the tens of other companies that are vying for the very same opportunity.
