What is Ebay?

Ebay is an online auction site that allows you to buy or sell goods, paying them a small listing fee and a percentage of the final sales price. Selling a single item on Ebay will expose you to hundreds, if not thousands, of buyers.

Making money on Ebay.

Whether you are going in to business in order to sell your own products or the products of others it is more than possible to make money on Ebay, but the key to doing so is research and lots of it. First, you need to research item you are selling. Check the ended items for your product and take a look to see if it regularly sells and if so for roughly how much? Now compare this to the very lowest price you could possibly sell the item for and make a profit. If the price you need to sell it for is less than the average then great, if not then you need to delve deeper before you go ahead. Take a look at any items that sold for a higher price than the rest and see if anything really stands out. Perhaps they have photographs but the others don’t or they were featured items; if this is the case you may still be ok to sell on Ebay and make a profit.

Selling on Ebay.

There are basically 3 ways to sell products on Ebay. You can sell via the traditional auction system, a fixed price sale or through an Ebay store. If you have a lot of items to sell especially at low prices then the Ebay store is excellent. You can set up your own store front and list as many items as you want with buy it now price. This can cost from as little as 1c per item. You should consider holding a couple of auctions on a regular basis though in order to drum up a little business because when people look at your auction, if they like what they see they will undoubtedly click the link to look at your store.
Buying on Ebay.
Whether you intend to sell your products on Ebay or not, there are always bargains to be had and in the wholesale section you can usually find some very cheap deals for large amounts of stock. It is quite possible for you to buy a wholesale lot off Ebay and sell them individually on Ebay for a profit.
The bottom line on Ebay.
Ebay is an invaluable tool that many people use to conduct their business on. You can also sell services on Ebay so even if you don’t have a physical object to sell you may want to consider trying out a small auction to see how things go. Look through the list of sold items for factors that have helped similar products sell. Key words in the title or the use of a photograph can often mean the difference between a good sale price and no sale at all.

www.ebay.com is where all the action is taking place, and they also have individual websites for each country so if your product is specific to where you live look there first.
