Advertising using Flyers

by Doctor Marshall

Flyers

. Flyers are a very inexpensive way to promote your business offline. You can opt for the glossy flyer that is printed on catalogue type paper or just standard copy paper. Your budget will determine exactly the type of flyer you go for. The simple paper flyer with black and white text, you can do yourself with your PC and an ordinary printer although you will probably want to consider paying a company to deliver them. Usually the cost of having flyers printed is around the 1 cent per flyer mark and is available in batches of hundreds. Certain factors like color paper may cost you a little extra, but the price will still remain more than reasonable.

Design

. A flyer is usually a very simplistic look and A5 in size. You can usually place a small graphic on there but nothing too extravagant or too large. By creating catchy content for your flyers and using a good slogan and logo, though, you will stick in people’s minds. This way they will think of you the next time they need your service.

Delivery

. There are a number of ways to distribute flyers, and each has their own use. The first thing you should do is know your target market. Are you trying to appeal to businesses or to individuals? Businesses will usually demand better looking and, therefore, more expensive flyers and the only way to really get flyers out to businesses is using the yellow pages and stuffing envelopes. Of course there are companies who will do this for a reasonable price. If you are looking for individuals then you also need to consider the type of people you are looking for. Selling expensive goods to low wealth estates probably isn’t going to work too well, so you should demographically target your market as appropriate.
Unique
. Be as unique as you possibly can. If you can give your potential customers a very brief snippet of useful information on your flyer then they will be more likely to contact you. Humor is one of the greatest marketing tactics you have and using it wisely will undoubtedly win you more customers. You need to stay ahead of the competition and by offering something they don’t or presenting yourself in a unique way you will be able to do this effectively.

Whatever your business and whatever the industry you work in, the flyer is a valuable marketing tool that gets you notice by thousands of people. Because the information you present is on a piece of paper, if you can offer something useful that is related to your industry, customers will keep your flyer with your company details on. Perhaps a weight conversion table if you sell products by weight, or a monetary conversion table (although this does obviously change) or perhaps something even more unique like a defrosting guide for meat in the microwave. They are all things that people would use and they will consider keeping your flyer to keep the information.
